Using Google Plus With Anahita

More intergration with #google+ in addition to what already exist (fb, yahoo, twitter, linkedin)

badge, login/register, +1 button, etc.

https://developers.google.com/+/plugins/badge/ https://developers.google.com/+/plugins/+1button/

I'm hoping it is already in the works and ready when 1.7 is released

Anyone else looking for #googleplus support?  Your thoughts?

I'm not sure Anahita itself should 'include' the badge, as that can be added to any site anywhere with a small piece of code, but of course the API could be interesting.

If the guys decide to continue to provide the AddThis plugin, or update it, then certainly that should include +1, its an established part of the standard social button 'triad' now ;-)

In the meantime, take a look at:

http://socialitejs.com/

Regarding the API however, I added Google+ authentication myself, and Ash is free to borrow the code for that and may already have done, but as Google+ don't yet allow posting to the stream (or any other write access), logging in and creating an account is all you will get. I would suggest not bothering with G+ until Google enhance their API, unless logging in with G+ is important to your users (it does seem to be with mine, but cyclists are a particularly geeky bunch of early adopters ;-).

Its worth bearing in mind that it really doesn't seem to have taken hold much outside of North America yet either, even in English-speaking counties like the UK, but that will change in time (search for a particular interest and look at the users' locations and you'll probably find this is true most of the time).

Hi Peter,

Andy thank you for your answer

As Andy mentioned, The G+ still lacking the post. It still can be used for authentication but it can not be used for echoing a story. Nonetheless I can still add the G+ authenication for now and once they have enable post then we can start using. (@andy I might take you up on the code offer ;) ). I am wondering what's taking them so long ?

As for the badge, you can include a javascript snippet as a custom module  to include G+ badge just the same way you would include a FB or Twitter badge.

Thanks @Andy for those links - good stuff!

Hi Arash, I would love to see some type of google+ login support in 1.7 as that would cover the majority in my opinion.

Hi everyone!

I didn't see the option on Anahitapolis' home page so I'm curious as to the progress of google plus authentication to be used in Anahita 2.0.

Hi Peter,

I haven't added it yet. We had other higher priorities tasks but I can have a look. Do they offer write permission as well or just read and authentication

Hi Arash, not a problem. I figure it's not on the top of list. Mainly users requesting to login similar to fb and twitter. As for permission, sorry I'm not quite sure.

@ash FYI, write permissions are now available in the form of 'moments' which you'll find documented on their API website.

Once written, things are a little different - the user must approve each moment on the Google+ website before they are actually published (a little like their 'instant upload' photo feature). Still, it's a big improvement on no write access at all :-) I'd certainly like to see this in Anahita now if possible!
