Can Anahita do this? Private Communities with sub groups?
I would like to have a site that allows an organization to setup a community.
The admin for the org would pay a subscription fee but the members of the org's community would not.
There could be multiple communities and non of them see each other.
There could be multiple sub groups created by the community (some private to only the members of the subgroup and some public viewable to all in the community).
Is this possible without heavy custom coding?
@John not out of the box. Looks like what you are looking for is the multi-site Anahita which is what we are also interested in once we replace the remainings of Joomla with NookuServer to build the next Anahita social networking engine. That is something we will be working on during the next 6 months.
Then within every site you can create groups and assign different privacy settings to them. Right now a lot of the groups on Anahitapolis website are private and accessible to the Premium members only http://www.anahitapolis.com/help/resources so that part is already working.
That sounds awesome! Can't wait to hear more about Anahita Multi-site!! Sounds like I'm gonna be getting a sub soon.
Is it possible to remove someone's view access to groups and such? For instance, so if someone was to browse the groups page, they wouldn't even see groups they don't have privilages for?
@Nice yes in 1.6 and 1.7 that is how the privacy is implemented. If the viewer isn't supposed to see a node, it won't even get loaded from the database.
Speaking of privacy, will 1.6/1.7 allow for better permissions for photo similar to flickr/google+/buddypress albums? I think this is one area where Anahita is lacking. Private communities may solve this but that is still a ways off. Just wondering what the direction is for that.
