Question: how many of you would pay for a hosted version of #Anahita. Please Like if the answer is yes!
You mean a service like that: http://www.ning.com/ ? Or does the customer get full access to the server?
Ok somewhere in the middle access for example, you may not get shell access, but you will have some customization control over the server such as memory, storage, ability to install your own custom extensions. That will be a lot more than what Ning provides.
@Rastin, I would urge you to NOT consider "traditional pay" as payment consideration for a SAAS of social network - with the power of Anahita.

The real juice will be in - creating an array of offerings - all "paid for" for use by communities. The people who pay may be very different from people who use. People who develop / add and need shell access get compensated by people who pay in a different way.
I am happy to be a part of it - in a meaningful way.

However, it would be interesting experimenting with a PaaS-addon version of Anahita.

It uses amazon and for low usage/testing purposes it is virtually free. Easy back-up too.
I think that would be a pretty cool idea if there were a few more templates to choose from...

Ok thanks guys. I am using OpenShift as well, but I am getting a weird startup page. Is there a specific server configuration I should use ?

Can Anahita run on Google App Engine ?
Never tried it, but correct me if I'm wrong. I don't think one can run PHP software on Google App Engine. They seem to support Python and Java.
Additional Info : As per Google documentation, Google App Engine support Java hence technically PHP based applications can be supported by Quercus (Java implementation of PHP5) .
However this needs to be tested before accepting as solution

We still have more work to do to become truly mobile responsive and some of the requirements have little to do with the templating system and should be taken care of at the app and Anahita level.
2. Anahita has it's own template framework which is unlike what Joomla or Wordpress use. That means Joomla or Wordpress templates will not work on Anahita.
3. Anahita was never based on Joomla 1.5, it only used a stripped down version of J1.5 to box the Anahita framework and apps. For every release of Anahita we have been dropping more of Joomla code. We will continue to do so until Anahita is completely Joomla free.

-with all apps being free, what's left of premium?
-at what percentage is pure anahita code?
-how will Mozilla WebFWD accelerator program help with Anahita + apps?
First there is good news and I'm afraid to ask ... what is the bad?

1. Premium support will mostly be focused on professional support and having your questions answered by the Anahita core team within 72 hours. By now it has become certain for everyone that even with code and API docs in hand people still need a lot of help on how to use or customize Anahita.
2. I don't know in terms of lines of code, but in Anahita 3.0 codebase perhaps only 1% of original joomla code is being used in the front and eventually all the original Joomla code will be removed from Anahita.
3. WebFWD's mission statement is to help open source innovators change the world. They provide advice, training, and mentoring to open source businesses based on the 10-15 years experience that they have. They don't directly contribute to the Anahita code or apps.
4. There is no bad news, only good news. For you the good news is that now everybody can use Anahita to build communities and we also provide some free resources so tribe members can help each other out. The good news for us is that we have been anticipating to make these free resources available perhaps by the end of this year, but considering the current state of the code and the fact that a lot of people have remarkably mastered how to use and customize Anahita, we decided to make the code available a few months earlier. This is a moment we have been anticipating since the day that we started the Anahita project. Anahita is now an upstream project and sharing our code and fruit of knowledge will help the wider adoption of Anahita which will benefit everybody in the long run.

There is obvious performance improvement (specially for the users from Asia) due to CDN (I cannot say if cloudflare is better in this context as compared to Incapsula)
I decided to keep security profile as "Medium" and performance profile as "CDN+Basic Optimizations". With this setting I've not experienced any functionality or JavaScript related issues.
I also decided to keep RocketLoader "off" as this is still in beta state and multiple blogs/forums suggested to keep this off on production servers.

now my site can access much faster. no js/ or CDN issue.
For my method Cloudflare-Incapsula Combo - i use cloudflare only for DNS Protection
